Ingredients
- 2 cups of black eyed peas
- 4 strips of bacon, diced
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika

- 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
- 2 cups of chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook until it is crispy. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is softened, about 5 minutes. Add the smoked paprika, oregano, and thyme and cook for 1 minute more. Remove from the heat.
2. Place the black eyed peas in a slow cooker. Add the cooked bacon mixture, chicken broth, and honey. Season with salt and pepper. Stir to combine.
3. Cook on low for 8 hours, or until the peas are tender.
