Ingredients

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 large yellow onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 pound ground beef

2 tablespoons chili powder

2 teaspoons ground cumin

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed

1 (14.5-ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained

1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce

1 cup beef broth

Instructions

1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 8 minutes. Drain off any excess fat.



2. Add the chili powder, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper and stir to combine. Place the beef mixture in a slow cooker.



3. Add the beans, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and beef broth to the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.



4. Serve warm with your favorite toppings, such as cheese, sour cream, and fresh herbs.
